He started dancing under the direction of Steve Cruz at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center at the age of 9 and never looked back. Beginning with African Dance and then studying under Ms. Eason, branching off into Lyrical, Modern and Contemporary Dance.

Being so close to Miami Beach he had plenty of opportunities to dance, sing and perform locally. He was just 12 years old when he got his first taste of TV, appearing on Wami on Miami with a group called Small Demands under the direction of Steve Cruz.

Philip would dance at school talent shows and joined a popular local group called the Skool Boyz where he was introduced to Street Hiphop. When the chance came to choreograph the high school dance team he jumped for it and found that he loved to teach and choreograph dance as well as perform. Taking this experience, he became a Hiphop teacher at a small studio in Homestead, FL, the Paramount Dance Studios.

More and more opportunities to perform came Phil’s way. An appearance on BET’s 106 & Park with Ft. Lauderdale based dance crew Vibe the Beat was followed by the chance to work with Zedric Bembry in 2003 as a dancer with 1st place act at Dance Fever, Live in Color. He toured the US with Live in Color, from New York to California and also performed on a mini tour with DJ Laz and Sito OnerRock in Texas.

Phil appeared on America’s Got Talent and the Miami Heat Audition Show. Eventually he would become a choreographer under Zedric Bembry for the Miami Heat Dance Team.

As his reputation in Miami grew the chance came to start his own classes, Phil’s Hiphop/Funk Class, at Peaches School of Dance where he is now a full time Hiphop teacher and choreographer. Local artists began using Phil’s talents for music videos and he choreographed in high schools. Flanagan, Pace and Ransom Everglades to name a few.

Working with Glenn Douglas Packard and Kehynde Hill at the Dance Utopia Agency, Philip was booked as a backup dancer for Brooke Hogan. He appeared with her on MTV’s Brooke Knows Best. Phil appeared in the movie Stomp the Yard II as a stepper/dancer after a successful audition in Atlanta, GA.

Phil has also worked on awards shows including Premio Lo Nuestro dancing behind famous Latin artists.
